Queensway School is seeking a calm, resilient and dependable Behaviour Support Worker to help pupils feel safe, regulate successfully and re-engage positively with learning.
A highly visible role supporting safe movement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour across our specialist school
Queensway is a specialist school in Telford supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Communication and Interaction needs, including autism. Relationships are central to school life, and staff combine high expectations with consistent, nurturing and evidence-informed support so that every pupil can thrive.
As Behaviour Support Worker, you will be a visible and trusted member of the behaviour and pastoral team. Working across classrooms, corridors, shared spaces, outdoor areas and designated support rooms, you will help pupils move safely around school and provide proactive support during transitions, unstructured times and incidents of dysregulation.
Using trauma-aware, relational, restorative and co-regulation approaches, you will recognise early signs of distress, respond calmly to behaviour of concern, reduce risk and help pupils regain emotional control and return to learning. You will apply agreed behaviour support plans, risk assessments and regulation strategies consistently, while maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and young people in education, specialist provision, youth, care or a similar setting. You will understand how autism, ADHD, sensory needs, trauma and SEMH can affect behaviour and communication, and be able to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. You will be emotionally resilient, observant, proactive and committed to teamwork, inclusion and the dignity of every pupil.
