Exciting expansion plans at Crudgington Primary

A Shropshire primary school has revealed exciting refurbishment plans that leaders say will completely transform learning spaces for pupils.

Crudgington Primary School is planning a £4.4 million investment which will replace four ageing demountable classrooms with modern, high-quality spaces to support outstanding teaching and learning.

The project – which is currently at the design and costing stage – would deliver four new classrooms, a reception area, a new school hall and a purpose-built reading space all carefully planned to integrate with the existing brick-built school.

The Learning Community Trust, which is behind the two-phase project, expects to submit a planning application later this month and if permission is given, it is hoped both phases will be completed by June 2028.

Headteacher Hannah Gharu said: “This refurbishment represents a major investment in the future of Crudgington Primary School.

“Our demountable classrooms have served us well, but it is now time to create modern, purpose‑built spaces that truly reflect the ambition, care and high standards of our school community.

“These new facilities will make a real difference to our children’s daily experience, and we are thrilled to see the project moving forward.”

The refurbishment plans would be delivered in two phases, beginning with the construction of four new classrooms and a new reception area, followed by demolition of the existing demountable classrooms and construction of a new school hall

Throughout the construction period, Crudgington Primary School will remain fully operational, working closely with contractors to minimise disruption and ensure pupils, staff and families continue to enjoy a safe, positive and well‑managed environment.

Paul Jones, chief operating officer at the Learning Community Trust, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support and patience of our families and community as we embark on the beginning of this exciting journey. We look forward to sharing further updates as the design and planning stages progress.

“These improvements will ensure that Crudgington Primary continues to meet the needs of our growing community while offering pupils inspiring, well‑designed spaces in which to learn, play and thrive.”
