Youngsters at Hadley Learning Community primary school have been exercising their democratic right to elect members of their Student Parliament.
The students took a trip to the ballot box to choose their representatives for the academic year.
Deputy headteacher Milli Couzens said: “All our students from Year 1 to Year 6 had the unique opportunity to cast their votes using an official ballot box that was previously used in the General Election earlier this year.
“We borrowed the box from Telford and Wrekin Council and we’d like to thank them for generously providing the resources to support this exciting and educational experience for our young learners.
“This experience, combined with lessons on the importance of democracy, gave our students an authentic and engaging way to learn about how to become global citizens of the future.”
The newly-elected Student Parliament members will now work closely with the school leadership team to contribute to important decisions and improvements within the school.
“Their involvement ensures that students play an active role in shaping and driving the school and the way it operates,” said Milli.
“Last year’s Parliament notably helped to raise over £2,500 for Severn Hospice, as well as working closely with Chartwells Catering to amend the whole school dinner menu.”
