Multi-academy trust
The Learning Community Trust is a multi-academy trust, an organisation that unites multiple academies and is governed by one trust board and led by an accounting officer (the CEO).
As a multi-academy trust, the Learning Community Trust is:
- a charitable company, limited by guarantee
- required to comply with company and charity law
- an independent legal entity
- the admissions authority, setting its own admissions process
- the employer of staff, meaning it is legally responsible as an employer
The Learning Community Trust is made up of three levels of governance:
- Members
- Trustees (also known as directors)
- Local governing bodies within each of the trust’s academies
The Head of Governance and Corporate Support is the lead officer for governance across all levels of the trust.
