Education welfare officer

The Learning Community Trust is a Telford based multi-academy Trust which was established in July 2017, with the backing of the Department for Education. Our Trust primarily serves the community of Telford, with schools from across all phases of education.

Our vision is very simple: To provide the best possible education for our children and young people.  We want our schools to be the first choice for parents, because they are great schools, because they are their local school, and because they serve the community they live in. Our focus is to ensure children progress successfully through education, gaining the highest qualifications they can, but also becoming amazing young people who can communicate, have a great work ethic and value others.

We have 13 fantastic schools, well led by innovative principals, headteachers and leadership teams; all different but working together to provide a great experience for children, students, and staff.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, ideally experienced and highly motivated Education Welfare Officer (EWO) to join the Learning Community Trust. Working in a busy school environment, you will work alongside the other Trust EWOs supporting school staff in improving school attendance and reducing persistent absence, identifying (and signposting to) appropriate support services for children, young people and their families, ensuring children within the borough are accessing their entitlement to educational provision.

The post will be working across the trust in a variety of schools, visiting them on an agreed basis to identify problems with individuals or groups of children that fall within the responsibilities of Education Welfare Officers. You will be line managed and supported by our experienced LCT EWO Lead and with peer support from our friendly and supportive Attendance & Welfare Team.

You will be able to communicate effectively with young people, their family and internal and external colleagues, developing good relationships and partnerships with others. Relevant qualifications relating to Education Welfare or social work, and experience working within the school setting, that covers a majority of the job description is desirable, however training will be provided in development areas.
