Make a meaningful difference every day as an SEN Teacher at Queensway School, helping children and young people feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
A rewarding opportunity to lead ambitious, inclusive teaching for pupils with autism, SEMH and other complex needs
Queensway is a specialist school in Telford supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Communication and Interaction needs, including autism. We are a Trauma Informed Gold school with Advanced Autism Accreditation, where relationships, empathy and high expectations come together to help every pupil thrive.
As an SEN Teacher, you will provide high-quality teaching, learning and pastoral support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans across relevant Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. You will plan, teach and assess an ambitious, broad and appropriately adapted curriculum, take responsibility for pupils’ progress and EHCP outcomes, and create a safe, structured and communication-accessible environment.
You will sequence learning from pupils’ individual starting points, adapt teaching and communication responsively, use assessment evidence to set and review meaningful targets, and implement EHCP provision and specialist advice. You will lead classroom practice, deploy teaching assistants effectively and work collaboratively with families, the SENCO, therapists, clinicians, social care and other professionals.
We are looking for a qualified, reflective, resilient and child-centred teacher who combines secure curriculum knowledge and high expectations with empathy, consistency and sound professional judgement. You will have experience of adapting teaching for pupils with SEND, managing behaviour positively and working effectively with families, support staff and partner professionals. Experience in a specialist setting and knowledge of autism, SEMH, communication needs and preparation for adulthood are welcomed.
What we can offer you

You will benefit from a comprehensive induction, ongoing professional development, instructional coaching and opportunities to progress across a growing Trust. We also offer generous Teachers’ Pension Scheme provision, wellbeing and counselling support, family-friendly policies, salary sacrifice schemes, free parking where available, and the chance to learn alongside experienced colleagues in specialist education.
